En aquest context, sens dubte, la teoria de la democr\u00e0cia t\u00e9 un ampli ventall de preguntes per fer-se i de velles reflexions per recordar. Dins aquest camp te\u00f2ric \u00e9s on s\u2019emmarca la publicaci\u00f3 recent de Philip Pettit: <em>On the People\u2019s Terms: A Republican Theory and Model of Democracy<\/em>. Pettit, catedr\u00e0tic Laurence Rockefeller de Ci\u00e8ncies Pol\u00edtiques i Valors Humans a la Universitat de Princeton, \u00e9s probablement un dels te\u00f2rics que ha contribu\u00eft m\u00e9s a difondre les idees de l\u2019anomenat <i>revival <\/i>republic\u00e0. Pettit va tenir ocasi\u00f3 de definir la seva visi\u00f3 sobre les caracter\u00edstiques i les fronteres de la tradici\u00f3 republicana a la seva obra <em>Republicanism: A Theory of Free\u00addom and Government<\/em> (1999).
